House Warming

I picked up a Housewarming candle from Blue Eagle the other day. Spouse and I did a little housewarming ritual. We lit candle (on a heatproof old ashtray I use for this purpose), turned on all the lights, opened all the windows, made some noise, and went from room to room stating our intentions for the space. I didn’t think the wax drippings looked like anything but when I took the candle off, the wax dripped in the shape of a heart! Hopefully this bodes well for the new place.

Saying Goodbye

November has some grief anniversaries for me. On the anniversary of the last time I saw my first fiancĂ© alive I decided to light a black candle and burn some rose incense for 15 minutes. I think I’ll repeat this as needed leading up to the anniversary of his death in the middle of December.

New Moon May 2019

This past weekend, I blessed my new dream journal with a lavender scented candle in a purple container, lavender essential oil on the first & last pages, and amethyst. It may be difficult to see in this photo, but my new dream journal is surrounded with a sprinkling of dried lavender. Based on: https://moodymoons.com/2015/08/13/dark-moon-dream-work-for-beginners/

Beltane 2019

My spouse read me another one of the Magical Mediations. It shouldn't be a surprise since Beltane celebrates sexuality and fertility, but it was racier than I remembered. Perhaps I was more alert and aware this time. We had a busy evening planned so we did it during our lunch break. I decked my altar out in green and purple altar cloths. Happy Beltane!

Full Moon April 2019

I had planned to make an offering of incense and attune myself with lunar energy by chanting "Maiden, Mother, Crone" while gazing on the full moon. Unfortunately, I fell asleep early on the night of the full moon. Perhaps my body needed the rest. I was still adjusting from being back from vacation. Instead, I chanted "Maiden, Mother, Crone" in my head while gazing at the moon the next night on the way back from a board game night. I'm glad I was able to do something.

Spring Update

For the past few months I've been struggling a little to make time for spirituality on my own. I like participating in group events. Imbolc with CUUPS in the city was great. Plus I have been getting more involved with my local UU fellowship. I haven't been that good about observing new and full moons, perhaps I'll look into something simple to do on my own or be able to join a group someday. And I was a little late doing a magical meditation for Ostara. I'm starting to feel better with more energy though. I still need to update my altar and I'm done with the light therapy lamp for the year until fall.

New Moon February 2019

From back to front: shell picture representing the Goddess, light therapy light, acorn picture representing the God; Living Earth Devotional, old ash tray holding little jade Buddha statue and a white tea light candle, A Book of Pagan Prayer; small brass bell, habit tracker, small brass candle snuffer. I kept my red altar cloth and switched out my green one for pink in honor of Imbolc. January I didn’t do so well with establishing habits but I’m off to a pretty good start this month and setting an intention to do better in February with the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual habits I’m keeping track of.

Imbolc 2019

For Imbolc, instead of just having my spouse read me another meditation from Magical Meditations, we were able to go out of our way to attend a celebration and potluck in the city at First Unitarian. Since I'm still half in the broom closet, I referred to it as a "church potluck." Service was lovely. Leader lit quarter candles, read a guided meditation, and also lit some tealight candles with a communal response. I was happy I knew the song we sang at the end:
May the circle be open but unbroken
May the [peace/love/joy] of the Goddess
Be ever in your heart
Merry meet
And merry part
And merry meet again.

Belated Yule Celebration

I switched my altar cloths to red and green and added a little jade Buddha statue gifted to me by my spouse from a recent business trip. Spouse read another Magical Meditation to me in time for the New Year. Perhaps I’ll do a little more for Imbolc.
